Devil's Angels win Battle of the Bands
The Devil's Angels are only in middle school, but these kids rock. Just ask anyone who attended the 47th annual Battle of the Bands at Chabot College on Saturday, where the Devil's Angels were declared the winners. It is the youngest band ever to achieve the honor. (Monday, 6:09 PM)

Hoopla for 'Hoops for Haiti'
The excitement of high school basketball games will translate into Haitian relief, thanks to a dad at San Ramon Valley High School and its leadership class. Parents, grandparents and other fans are asked to contribute $1 per point scored by the Wolves at the basketball games this week, where Hoops for Haiti tables staffed by Leadership students will collect donations. Nominations are in for annual Chamber awards
The nominations are in for Citizen of the Year and other awards presented annually at the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce dinner, where new officers are also installed. (Monday, 6:11 PM)
Soccer players sign letters of intent
A signing ceremony was held Thursday evening at the Mustang Soccer Complex for high school students in the area who signed letters of intent to play soccer at colleges in the fall. The students will be playing for their colleges with some type of scholarship. (Sunday, 7:52 PM)
Seven days to survive on your own
The worst time for "the big one" to hit would be when school is in session, says Greg Gilbert, Danville's Emergency Services Manager. Although the schools have supplies and training to care for the students, the anxiety level would be off the charts for families, he noted, if they were separated. (Sunday, 8:02 PM)
Shoes headed for Haiti
Two local Scout troops kicked into action to collect shoes for people in Haiti - Junior Girl Scout Troop No. 32140 and Brownie Troop 830. Between them, they collected 2,000 pairs of shoes, which Sport Chalet is sending to Haiti. (Sunday, 7:51 PM)
Danville seeks Planning Commissioner
Danville is looking for a new member to fill the vacancy on the Town's Planning Commission. The position opened when Commissioner Robert Storer was chosen to be on the Town Council, replacing Councilman Mike Shimansky, who died in September. (Thursday, 7:26 PM)
High school gym looking at December completion
Construction workers took advantage of a break in the weather earlier this week to make some progress on the gymnasium at San Ramon Valley High School. But the work is still woefully behind its original schedule of completion for this summer. (Thursday, 7:27 PM)
